“The Vegan child has a vastly different belief system and moral compass to most others in society. Their viewpoints are important to them and very much worth taking into consideration, as you would with any other child who has specific needs.”

Excerpt from ‘Primary Veducation Guide book’ 2019

Hi, I’m Laura! ME GRADUATE

I graduated in 2001 with a BA Hons in Primary Education with a specialism in Global Citizenship. I followed on to be a Primary School teacher and then SENCo, in Oldham, Greater Manchester.  After making the lifestyle switch to veganism in 2013, whilst weaning my daughter, I had my epiphany moment and decided to dedicate the rest of my life to spreading awareness. I loved being a teacher, and a SENCo even more, but felt that I had to leave the profession and become a vegan warrior.

In 2015 I became Company Director of Lolo’s Vegan and Raw Restaurant & Store (Yey!). Here’s me dancing in my 1920’s themed vegan restaurant. I had thirteen vegan staff and a whole heap of happy customers delighted to see vegan choices in their rural town of Ramsbottom.

Fast forward a couple of years and due to ill health (boo!) unfortunately, I had to sell the business. The silver lining though is Primary Veducation! After a long recovery I soon found my passion for teaching again and started to supply teach in and around Bury.

I then wondered how I could combine my two passions of teaching and veganism, especially as I had begun to notice the vast amounts of animal references within Primary Schools. With thousands more children and parents choosing to become vegan it became apparent that this consultancy service would be the perfect way to bridge the two.

Did I mention that I am a Mum of a vegan daughter too? Lois (Lil’Lolo) who is now 5, at school and utterly adorable.

With SENCo experience and curriculum knowledge in EYFS, KS1 & KS2 I will be able to come into your school and suggest ideas, encourage some ‘outside of the box’ thinking and gently steer you towards a vegan-inclusive classroom. From simple language choices to topic enhancements and everything in between.

Imagine how special your vegan child will feel knowing that their school, teacher and peers not only respect their way of life, but that they understand it too.
